Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is frequently used in products whose primary qualities are determined by their carbon content and in which other alloying elements play a minor role. Rolling steel slabs at a high temperature above the recrystallization point of the steel results in coils that have a mill edge. The black bands, also known as “Hot Roll Black,” are covered in a protective scale layer that forms after rolling and shields the steel from damage while being temporarily stored.
